Engage in educational and research workshops

Our History Lecture Series features guest presentations from historians and elders covering topics like Maroon treaty-making, language remnants, and the migration to Canada. These workshops offer unique insights and opportunities for learning.

Who our events are for

Our events are highly inclusive and intentionally designed to attract specific groups critical to preserving and celebrating Maroon history. We welcome Maroon & Afro-Caribbean descendants eager to reclaim their lineage and connect with living traditions. Youth & students will find empowering narratives of Black history. Local community members & allies from the Greater Toronto Area can support Afrocentric heritage, and educators, historians & creatives can collaborate and integrate authentic Maroon narratives into their work.

Why our events are unique

Our events are not passive history lectures; they are living, immersive, and sensory experiences that bring the spirit of Maroon sovereignty directly into the room. You will experience active cultural immersion, hear traditional Maroon drums, learn ancestral songs, and engage in oral storytelling circles. Our content is descendant-led and authentic, with history told firsthand by family descendants and elders. We celebrate a history of triumph, focusing on self-governance and successful resistance rather than victimhood. Experience intergenerational energy as elders pass down rare family lineages directly to youth, connecting the past straight to the future.
